Marine Dredging
Dredging is the removal of sediments and debris from the bottom of lakes, rivers, ports, and increasing the depth of navigation channels, anchorages, or berthing areas to ensure the safe passage of vessels. ALFATTAN CONTRACTING can provide both mechanical and hydraulic dredging options that will maintain the needed depths for efficient navigation. Our dredging services use mechanical dredging (clamshell dredging, hopper dredging, pump dredging and bucket dredging), hydraulic dredging (Cutter Suction Dredging).
Create Waterways & Waterway Maintenance
Many ports are building new waterways with dredging which can be used as a means of transport. Dredging ensures cargo vessels and others of all sizes can dock and do not run aground. It must be deep enough to accommodate vessels loading to the design draft. It must be wide enough to allow passage of the vessels with the design width or beam. It must be free of obstacles to navigation, or offer a way around them (such as canal locks or boat lifts). Its current must be mild enough to allow vessels to make headway upstream without undue difficulty. The wave height must not exceed the value for which the class of vessel is designed. Dredging is an important channel maintenance step by removing the accumulated debris, dredging can return the channel to its original depth and condition.
Dredge Port
Port dredging is necessary to keep waterway traffic on schedule, and If port docks are silted up, vessels cannot dock to unload their cargo and move on to the next port of call. It is the type of dredging done in the near shore structures like jetties, wharves, harbors and, both wet and dry docks. It creates a basin for the harbors, so that the easy maneuvering of vessels is attained.
Land Reclamation
Land reclamation involves the process of pumped slurry out of the seabed as part of the land reclamation designed to provide new Islands and others fields. Also, to remove chemical spills, sewage accumulation, storm water runouts and others. Creating new land areas for infrastructure, building development and facilitation of port and harbor logistics.
Beach Nourishment
Beach nourishment is the adding of sand or sediment to beaches to improve and mitigate shoreline from erosion, flooding and to wide beach. Dredging can help to restore the beachfront to its original condition. The slope on the land adjacent to the dredged water bodies are designed and maintained in such a way that, the erosion and washing off of the land is minimized for a longer period of time.
